| When you make a dial-up connection to ecosse.net you
must use the username scot and the passsword free. This dial-up login information
is totally independent of any personal usernames
and passwords you might have for your mailboxes. Please make a note of scot and free in case you ever need to input these manually during a dial-up connection. |

Ensure that Windows Dial up Networking is installed on your machine. If you need to install go to: Control Panel -> Add Remove Programs -> Windows Setup -> Communications -> Dial Up Networking Open Dial up Networking and click "Make New Connection" There will be a short description of what dial-up networking does. Click on next. Type a name for the service you are dialing (ecosse.net). and click on next. Add the telephone number . Select the appropriate number for your modem. 0845 6621034 for Standard Modem0845 6621134 for K-Flex modems 0845 6621534 for V90 modems 0845 6621334 for 64k ISDN 0845 6621434 for 128k ISDN Add
the area code and the telephone number in the relevant boxes. Click on next. You have successfully created a dial-up networking connection called ecosse.net . Click on finish. An ecosse.net icon will now have appeared in dial-up networking. Select the icon by right clicking on it with your mouse and choose the Properties option from the menu. Now you can complete the setup of your Internet connection. tick the box , use country code and area code. Choose the tab called Server Types from the top of the screen. Check that the Dial-up server type box is PPP etc. Internet. There are 6 'tickable' boxes on your screen (Win95) and 8 'tickable' boxes (Win98). Make sure the only one ticked is the bottom option, TCP/IP -- untick any others Click on TCP/IP settings Check the bullets are on: Server assigned address Server assigned name server addresses. Tick the bottom 2 boxes: Use IP Header compression Use Default Gateway Click on OK and you will return to the icon in dial-up networking. All that remains is for you to install your ecoose.net log in information in the icon by double left clicking on it. A connect to box will open on your screen. Add the username: scot Add the password: free Remember everything is case sensitive, so type it exactly . Click on the connect button to test your connection. Once connected you can start any Internet application such as your browser. You can now also select to dial this connection automatically using Microsoft Explorers "Connection" tab.

To set up your dial up connection in NT4 double-click the My Computer icon or go to start, programmes, accessories and dial-up networking. Click on Dial-Up Networking. Click New Name the new phonebook entry: ecosse.net Click Next Check "I am calling the Internet" Check "Send my plain text password" Click Next Add the phone number: Select the appropriate number for your modem. 0845 6621034 for Standard Modem0845 6621134 for K-Flex modems 0845 6621534 for V90 modems 0845 6621334 for 64k ISDN 0845 6621434 for 128k ISDN Click Finish Select your ecosse.net address book entry Click More Select Edit entry and modem properties. Select the Server tab, Check that the Dial-up server type box is PPP etc. Internet. There are 5 other boxes Make sure the only one selected is the top option, TCP/IP -- untick any others Click on TCP/IP settings Check the bullets are on: Server assigned address Server assigned name server addresses. Tick the bottom 2 boxes: Use IP Header compression Use Default Gateway Click on OK To connect click on Dial Add the username: scot Add the password: free Leave the Domain box empty. Remember everything is case sensitive, so type it exactly . Click on the connect button to test your connection. Once connected you can start any Internet application such as your browser.
